LT ManningI currently reside in the area of Los Angeles, California, and am a third generation Californian, which is still a little rare.

Until recently, I have been a self taught artist. I’ve been painting or drawing all my life.

I tend to favor instant gratification so my favorite media these days is  pastels.  They are portable, compact and perfect for plein air painting in the great outdoors.

My art is representational and falls somewhere within impressionism and expressionism styles.  I have been privileged to attend work shops or observe the painting of some very good artists including:   Joe Mancuso, Bob Rohm, Lorenzo Chavez, and Richard McKinley.  They all paint with pastels and are great teachers as well.  I suggest you check them out if you haven’t already.

In 2011 I began placing my work in a few public exhibitions and art shows in Southern California.  These shows have been sponsored by the Pastel Society of Southern California, (PSSC); Palos Verdes Art Center (PVAC); and Destination Art (DA).

I launched this web site as the next logical step to expand the horizons of my artistic journey.  If you took the time to read this, thank you and in a fashion, you are now part of my journey.

Best regards,

Larry Manning
